Pamela Ann White serve as U.S. ambassador to the Republic of Haiti

President Obama has nominated a Maine woman to serve as U.S. ambassador to the Republic of Haiti.

 

Pamela Ann White, a native of Auburn and a graduate of the University of Maine, is the president's choice to serve in the post. White now is U.S. ambassador to Gambia, a country in West Africa. White is a career member of the Senior Foreign Service. She has attained the rank of career minister.

 

"Pam White has 35 years of experience in countries throughout Africa since she began a career of public service in the Peace Corps in Cameroon. She is a true diplomat and I'm confident that she will represent the United States well in Haiti," said U.S. Rep. Chellie Pingree, D-1st District.

 

"It's great to see that a Mainer has been selected to serve in this important position," said U.S. Rep. Mike Michaud, D-2nd District.
