Haiti Desk Officer

The primary purpose of this position is to provider over-all HQ-based backstopping support to UMCOR’s work in Haiti. This will include, but not be limited to, support, guide and oversee ongoing operations, programming, evaluation and program reporting activities. The position requires significant program development and donor/stakeholder management.

Qualifications / Evaluations:: 
The position requires a Master’s degree in International Development, Non-Profit Management, Public Administration, International Relations or a related field, as well as at least 2 years of experience in grant management, program design, implementation and fund-raising, preferably overseas. Previous experience within Haiti or the Caribbean is strongly preferred. Candidate must live in the NY metro area or relocate at their own expense prior date of hire. SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES: Strong organizational ability; experience in post-disaster and emergency project management, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team; ability to understand the cultural and political environment and to work well with multiple stakeholders in a diplomatic manner; and sound understanding and knowledge of US donor grant procurement procedures are required. Excellent written and oral communication skills in English and French required. Excellent interpersonal skills and proven ability to identify, plan and coordinate program and operational support to a field-based operation. Experience in working with faith-based organizations is a plus.

Mirebalais Hospital Project Coordinator

The Mirebalais Hospital Project Coordinator will ensure that the many volunteers and visitors to the Mirebalais Hospital site have robust support and accompaniment from PIH before, during, and after their journeys, so that their experiences working with PIH are safe, positive, and productive.

Qualifications / Evaluations:: 
Five years relevant work experience, with demonstrated ability to take initiative, manage relationships, and demonstrate excellent judgment. ■ Solid relationship-building skills; ability to interface with external visitors from all walks of life (including key high-level visitors) and PIH staff. ■ Strong people management experience, including an ability to get along with an array of personalities across diverse cultures, and an ability to patiently and respectfully accompany visitors with little or no experience in resource-limited settings. ■ Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral). ■ Substantial experience living and working in resource-limited environments, including a demonstrated ability to be flexible and effective in the face of unexpected conditions. ■ Solid organizational and planning abilities for balancing multiple tasks and responsibilities. ■ Demonstrated ability to work independently, as well as collaboratively in a team. ■ Conversational French and/or Haitian Creole abilities (preferred). ■ A commitment to social justice and health care issues.

Monitoring Evaluation and Learning Officer

The Monitoring Evaluation and Learning (MEL) Officer is responsible for coordinating and implementing existing MEL plans and activities in Haiti , formulating others and establishing a system to integrally monitor, evaluate, and document learning from all programs, implementation and their impact. Haiti Program Coordinator

The Haiti Program Coordinator will report to the Haiti Program Director to support implementation of and reporting on projects at Zanmi Lasante sites in rural Haiti. This position will include elements of finance and administration, project planning and management, and donor relations and reporting. The Haiti Program Coordinator will work with the team in Haiti and also in Boston to coordinate donor and other site visits to Haiti.

Qualifications / Evaluations:: 
Bachelor’s degree; experience/strong interest in global health. At least two years of experience providing program support. Demonstrated ability to plan and host travel for a wide variety of stakeholders with varied needs. A high degree of tact, patience, and a positive attitude.
